It is hard to believe that this is my final President's Letter. What an amazing year it has been. Although it has not been without challenges, I have never been more optimistic about the future of ACOI.

Every July, residency programs across the country welcome a new class of physicians. They arrive in our hospitals with stethoscopes, fresh white coats, nervous energy, and an optimism that has somehow survived exams, interviews, and years of demanding training. As faculty and program leaders, we often focus on what we need to teach them. Yet after many years in medical education, I have come to realize that residents teach us just as much.
