
Lee Peter Bee, DO, FACOI, has started a new position as Chief Executive Officer at Angels on Call. Angels on Call is an in-home health service based in Missouri that provides a wide range of services to patients such as Doctors on Wheels concierge services and mobile diagnostic imaging and ultrasounds. Robert Cain, DO, MACOI, recently had an opinion piece published with MedPage Today. The article, “The Hope of the DO Initials,” is a response to a previous op-ed on patient trust. Dr. Cain’s op-ed spoke to how an encouraging and connective approach to care can rebuild patient trust, and advocated for the “empathy, whole-person care, and the belief that healing begins with human connection” that define osteopathic medicine.
In addition, Dr. Cain has been selected to speak at the Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine commencement ceremony on May 8, 2025. Congratulations, Dr. Cain!

Amanda Finley, DO, FACOI, was featured in an article highlighting the inaugural residency program in internal medicine in HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, and its powerful impact in just seven months. Dr. Finley is the Program Director of the residency. In her interview for the piece, she said, “One of the proudest things I have as a resident director is seeing the almost immediate impact that these residents have had on our community in the continuity clinic. They have been able to provide open access to primary care, which previously had long waiting periods for appointments. These residents are seeing new patients every week.” Congratulations to Dr. Finley and all of the resident physicians!

Congratulations to student members Gaspareantonio Fabio Greco (pictured), OMS II; Maya Berger, OMS III; and Martin Nguyen, OMS III. All three were featured in an article for the West Virginia Daily News about students at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine serving in national leadership roles. The piece highlighted Greco’s role as president-elect of the National Student Osteopathic Internal Medicine Association (SOIMA); Berger’s work as a global health liaison with AACOM’s Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents; and Nguyen’s position as scholarly activity representative with the ACOI National SOIMA.
Cindy Hou, DO, MBA, FACOI, was part of a team who presented at SOPHE 2025, the Society for Public Health Education annual conference, in Long Beach, California. The team – which included Tiffany Delgado-Bickley, MS, Christina Carty, Jessica Vidal-Navas, and Barbara McCormick – covered linguistic equity, the importance of medical interpreters, the use of plain language, the teach-back method, and more. Virginia Irwin-Scott, DO, FACOI, recently joined the board of the Renal Physicians Association. They are an organization dedicated to representing and serving nephrology practitioners in their delivery of quality renal care. Their mission is serving as “the voice of nephrology practice and a committed advocate to the kidney community, payers and federal policy makers.” Congratulations to Dr. Irwin-Scott on this opportunity!

Robert Juhasz, DO, MACOI, has been named the 2025 recipient of the William D. Miller Award by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). The William D. Miller Award is presented annually to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of osteopathic medical education. Dr. Juhasz is the Chair of the Kansas City University Board of Trustees, an Emeritus Member of the Cleveland Clinic, and former President of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). He was recognized for exemplifying the values and vision of the osteopathic profession for over four decades of leadership in academic and clinical medicine. Joseph MacDonald, DO, MBA, FACOI, has been named Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center. Dr. MacDonald will work with medical staff leaders as a liaison to medical staff members, hospital and health system administration, and Penn State Health Medical Group operational leadership. James Matera, DO, FACOI, was featured on the Becker’s Health’s Digital Health and Health IT podcast. The episode discusses the importance of evidence-based medicine and adhering to guidelines to improve quality of care. Shannon McMann, DO, FACOI, recently became part of BariNation’s team of experts. BariNation is a patient-created bariatric educational organization whose mission is to connect bariatric patients with community, education, and resources. They partner with bariatric surgical centers and practices to offer patients virtual support and produce a weekly podcast that features experts in bariatric medicine. Congratulations, Dr. McMann!

Karen Nichols, DO, MACOI, was recently awarded a Mastership from the American College of Physicians (ACP). ACP Masterships are a way of achieving the organization’s goal to “recognize excellence and distinguished contributions to internal medicine.” They are awarded annually, and recipients are honored at the Convocation ceremony held at the ACP Internal Medicine meeting. Geraldine O'Shea, DO, recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). This award recognizes individuals for exceptional service, commitment and contributions to the FSMB, the advancement of medical licensure and discipline, and efforts to strengthen public protection.
