Karen Agersborg, DO, was featured in an article in Women World magazine. The piece, “Bridging Science and Compassion in Endocrine Medicine,” focuses on her more than 25 years serving as a clinical endocrinologist, including her approach to care, how she navigates the healthcare field as a woman in leadership, and why she’s passionate about training and guiding the next generation. Congratulations, Dr. Agersborg! 

Mousumi Som, DO, FACOI, was recognized for her service and dedication to the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) in December at its annual 2025 Board of Directors meeting. The NBOME is a nonprofit organization that provides competency assessments for osteopathic medical licensure and related health care professions. At this meeting, they recognized their outgoing Board members, including Dr. Som. Dr. Som was originally elected to the NBOME Board of Directors in 2016. Since then, she has served on the Executive, Awards, Nominating, Test Accommodations, and the Independent Review committees, as well as in numerous NBOME National Faculty roles. Congratulations, Dr. Som!

Kardie Tobb, DO, FACOI, wrote an article that was published in Cardiology Magazine, the official magazine of the American College of Cardiology. Her piece, “The Invisible Armor: A Personal Reflection on The Power of Resilience as a Black Woman in Cardiology,” was part of the publication’s Courageous Conversations column. In it, she wrote about her experiences with bias in the medical field and how she approaches them with a sense of resilience. Congratulations, Dr. Tobb!

Lawrence Verfurth, DO, FACOI, was named the new Chief Medical Officer at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He comes to Wesley Medical Center after several years of service as CMO at HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe. “Wesley Healthcare has made such an impact in the lives of so many people in Kansas,” Dr. Verfurth said. “I hope to continue that tradition as we move forward.” Wesley's president and CEO, Bill Voloch, added, “Dr. Verfurth’s collaborative spirit, team-first approach, and focus on quality will strengthen relationships across our colleagues, physicians and the community.” Congratulations, Dr. Verfurth!
