SOIMA 2026-2027 Officer Elections

Candidates for Secretary

Tiffany Richardson, OMS-II, William Carey University  College of Osteopathic Medicine

My name is Tiffany Richardson, a second-year medical student at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and I am excited to run for National SOIMA Secretary.

This past October, I attended my first Annual ACOI Convention. Being surrounded by fellow students interested in pursuing Internal Medicine was very encouraging. I enjoyed being able to connect with colleagues and network with physicians. I particularly appreciated ACOI prioritizing student attendance and involvement. Without their generous reimbursement, I would not have been able to experience the inclusive community of Osteopathic Internists ACOI has worked to build all these years. This is why I feel motivated to become further involved with SOIMA.

Throughout my time in medical school, I have been actively involved in leadership. I currently serve as Treasurer of SOIMA, Secretary of SNMA and SGA Wellness Liaison. These roles have strengthened my ability to stay organized, communicate effectively and manage responsibilities with great attention to detail. I believe I’m a great fit for National SOIMA Secretary because I bring a unique combination of ambition, organization, and strong communication skills. I also pay great attention to detail, which is crucial for maintaining accurate records, meeting minutes, and clear documentation.

Serving as Wellness Liaison has allowed me to build meaningful relationships with fellow students. With a professional yet open and warm communication style, I know how to connect in student-centered environments to ensure everyone feels heard and supported. I thrive with collaborative opportunities and enjoy working with others toward shared goals. I have learned the importance of staying informed and relaying important information to the student body, something I will carry with me if elected Secretary.

Being a current member of ACOI and SOIMA has provided me with valuable opportunities. I’ve been able to engage more deeply with the field of Internal Medicine, connect with a mentor for the first time, and participate in meaningful events that have enhanced my professional development. My commitment to Internal Medicine and student leadership drives my desire to serve on a larger scale. I aim to provide the same support that the National SOIMA has given to me for current and future medical students to come.

Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the opportunity to serve and contribute to the continued success of National SOIMA!

Pooja Singu, OMS-II, Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine

Hi all, my name is Pooja Singu, and I am an OMS II at Nova Southeastern University, Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSUKPCOM).

At NSUKPCOM, currently, the positions I hold as Vice President of the Class of 2028 and Secretary of both American Medical Women's Association and Florida Osteopathic Medical Association have provided me with the background, structure, and experience that make me a strong fit for the role of Secretary for ACOI SOIMA. Through these roles, I have developed the ability to manage communications, maintain organizational structure, and ensure the seamless execution of initiatives that I believe are very well suited for the role of Secretary for ACOI SOIMA.

In my role as Vice President, I have become highly capable of managing both large groups and small teams, and I have successfully designed and carried out large-scale initiatives. One example includes organizing and coordinating a FIGS jacket program for my entire medical school, which required detailed planning, clear communication, and full follow-through. Additionally, I have been actively involved in organizing and supporting academic review sessions, helping create spaces that foster collaboration and success among students.

Through my leadership roles, I have worked to build camaraderie and community both within and beyond NSUKPCOM. This includes coordinating guest speakers, organizing meetings, and strengthening engagement among club members to create a more connected and supportive environment.

Prior to medical school, I worked as a research assistant at Harvard University within a lab and startup setting. This experience strengthened my professionalism, accountability, and ability to operate effectively in both administrative and scientific environments. It has shaped me into someone who is organized, reliable, and able to follow through on responsibilities while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
