Student Poem: "The Glacier"

The Glacier

A glacier penetrates the ice,
Slowly it melts,
Slowly, slowly

A medical student enters the lecture hall,
Slowly she fatigues,
Slowly, slowly

“Quick! Get a picture!”
The child exclaims,
The glacier
Is penetrating the ice

“Quick! Get a picture!”
The mother exclaims,
The medical student
Is getting her white coat

It’s so smooth
On the surface
Crystal clear
And white

It’s so remarkable
From afar
Studious
And determined

But at the edge
The glacier
Pointed and sharp
But on the inside
The medical student
Tired and spent

For the glacier
For the student
Is carving a new path,
Is breaking barriers
