The Student Session at the 2026 Spring Meetings featured a moderated panel with three physician experts, all of whom provided practical, experience-driven guidance on medical research. The panelists included Keith A. Reich, DO, MACOI, RhMSUS, FACR; Amanda Finley, DO, FACOI; and Nancy Finnigan, DO, FACOI, MBA, MHPE, FACP.
The session, How to Present, Publish, and Communicate Your Research, was part of the ACOI Internal Medicine Comprehensive Update, and the first-ever Spring Meetings session specifically for students.
The discussion emphasized how to effectively present research and communicate findings in a clear and impactful way. The panelists also explored how to choose meaningful, specialty- appropriate projects that align with long-term career goals. In addition, they addressed common questions surrounding research productivity, including how many projects are considered competitive and how to balance quality with quantity.
Overall, the session offered valuable insight into approaching research with intention and building a strong academic foundation.
