Patient Resources from the Family Heart Foundation

by ACOI

May 28, 2026

This past March, the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and nine other leading medical associations issued updated guidelines for the management of dyslipidemia. With the release of these new guidelines, the Family Heart Foundation (FHF) has provided ACOI with resources that can be shared with patients that explain elevated LDL and Lp(a).

The mission of the FHF is to save generations of families from heart disease through timely identification and improved care of familial hypercholesterolemia and elevated lipoprotein(a).

To this end, the FHF pioneers research, advocacy, and education to help prevent heart attacks and strokes caused by elevated lipoprotein(a), Lp(a), and familial hypercholesterolemia, FH, two inherited disorders that can have an impact across generations. They play a major role in driving change and empowering families to navigate their own health.

These resources are meant to help inform and guide patients in prioritizing their heart health.
