Hello everyone!

As we approach the holiday season, I hope you each find some time for some well-deserved rest and reflection. As this year draws to a close, I encourage you to take some time to celebrate your accomplishments this year, both big and small. Regardless of where you are in your medical journey, you are one step closer to your goals, which is something to be truly proud of!

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned this semester is the value of community. Medical school is not easy, and having a strong support system is essential. This year, I have been fortunate to find an incredible sense of belonging through the ACOI, and it is my hope that each of you feels the same connection, support, and encouragement that our organization strives to provide.

As we enter the new year, I encourage you to:

  • REST! Take some time to enjoy the holiday season and surround yourself with those you love. Rest is not a luxury - it is a necessity that allows us to recharge and return stronger.
  • Do it afraid. Many opportunities in medicine can feel intimidating, and it is easy to doubt whether we are “ready” or “worthy.” Apply for that leadership role. Start the research project you’ve been considering. Growth often begins with taking the first step outside your comfort zone.
  • Remember your “why.” Whether this year brought you milestones you’ve dreamed of or challenges you never anticipated, grounding yourself in your purpose is essential. Reconnecting with the reason you chose medicine can provide the clarity and perseverance needed to move forward through difficult moments.

This holiday season, remember that the ACOI is here for you to celebrate both the big and the small wins. Through leadership, mentorship, research, or community, we are honored to walk alongside you in your journey to becoming the best physician you can be.

In case you haven’t heard it lately, let me be the first to remind you that I am proud of you. Each day you are becoming a stronger version of yourself - and it certainly does not go unnoticed. As your Region II Representative, it is a privilege to support you in every aspect of your journey, and I am grateful for all of the conversations and connections we have shared this year.

On behalf of the ACOI, it is my honor to wish you all a Happy Holidays! May this season fill you with encouragement, love, and strength for all that 2026 has to come. We look forward to connecting with you all in the New Year!

With warm regards,

Mia Hudanich
