Final President's Letter from Dr. Enright
by Susan M. Enright, DO, MACOI
ACOI President
September 29, 2025
As my year as President of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) comes to a close, one word captures my reflection on this experience: grateful.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this remarkable organization and for the privilege of working alongside so many dedicated individuals who make the ACOI what it is today.
First and foremost, I want to recognize the phenomenal leadership of our Executive Director, Karen Caruth. Karen’s vision and commitment have strengthened existing relationships and forged invaluable new ones, all while building and supporting an exceptional staff who advance the mission of the ACOI every day.
I am also grateful to:
Tim McNichol, Deputy Executive Director, and his team—Kara Kerns and Jeremy McFarland—for their outstanding work in student and resident recruitment and programming.
Kristan Davis, Senior Director of Education and Professional Development, and her team—Keisha Oglesby, Claudette Jones, Sarah Hayford, and Ryan Smith—for designing and executing our outstanding education and CME events.
Erin Ross, Senior Director of Membership, Marketing, and Communication, and her team—Katie Allen, Jennifer Weatherly, and Kory Prioreschi—for their tireless efforts in keeping us connected, informed, and engaged.
I also extend my gratitude to our Board of Directors (Damon Baker, DO, FACOI; Robert Hasty, DO, FACOI; C. Clark Milton, DO, FACOI; Joanne Kaiser-Smith, DO, MACOI; MarkAlain Déry, DO, MPH, FACOI; Joanne Baker, DO, FACOI; Watson Ducatel, DO, FACOI; Pamela Goldman, DO, FACOI; Charlene LePane, DO, FACOI; Laura Rosch, DO, FACOI; David Tolentino, DO, FACOI; Anya Cope, DO, FACOI; Simona Eng, DO, FACOI; and John Arthur, DO) , a group of passionate osteopathic physicians who work diligently to ensure the ACOI continues to support and inspire present and future generations of internists.
My own journey with ACOI began in residency, and the benefits of membership have been countless. The education I have received—directly from physicians who practice medicine every day—has been unmatched. My service on the ACOI Council for Education and Evaluation and on the ACOI Board has given me the privilege of working alongside extraordinary physician leaders. Learning from them has shaped me both as a clinician and as a leader.
I wholeheartedly encourage every member to get involved. The rewards—professional growth, lasting connections, and personal fulfillment—are immeasurable.
It has been an honor to serve as your President. Thank you for the opportunity, your trust, and your commitment to advancing the mission of the ACOI.
With gratitude,
Susan Enright, DO, MACOI
