Engaging educational sessions you won't want to miss

Can you believe it’s already September? The Annual Convention is approaching quickly, but there’s still time to plan your ACOI 2025 experience. I’m eagerly anticipating so much of it—the chance to connect, the beautiful setting, and especially the cutting-edge education. If you’ve seen the agenda, you already know there are so many robust sessions to look forward to—and if you haven’t yet, take a moment and have a look!

Here are a few major standout sessions to spark your curiosity.

  • Physician Leadership: Turning Pitfalls into Pearls, Karen J. Nichols, DO, MA, MACOI, MACP, CS-F. Learn helpful approaches to communication in patient care and leadership situations, and the different components of emotional intelligence.
  • Keynote: Resilience@Work – Leading Yourself and Your Team into a Thriving Future, Simon T. Bailey, MBA. An inspiring, transformational presentation with insights on how to lead with resilience and brilliance in today’s ever-evolving environment.
  • Keynote Workshop: Brilliant Well-being is the Future of Leadership, Simon T. Bailey, MBA. Discover how to lead yourself with clarity, energy, and courage. You'll get a new lens on how your well-being is the foundation of impact—in work, relationships, and the way you show up every day.
  • Keynote: Ignite Your Intuition and Experience the Extraordinary, Craig Karges. A participatory presentation that combines entertainment, message, and motivation. You’ll be reminded that nothing is impossible, and we all have the ability to create the future through our decisions, actions, and beliefs.
  • OMT Bootcamp, Thomas Sabalaske, DO. Through the principles of osteopathic manual medicine, learn how to diagnose and treat low back pain with osteopathic manipulation in under 10 minutes. Designed for all levels and applicable in both clinical and hospital settings.
  • Climate in Clinical Practice: Harnessing Physician Leadership for Positive Change, Mary Badger, DO, FACOI, FAWM. Become a physician climate innovator, educator, collaborator, and catalyst for change. Understand climate impacts on human health, and how using osteopathic principles, the climate lens, and a “One Health” approach can help patients.
  • Emerging Infectious Diseases in the Era of Limited Government Funding, MarkAlain Déry, DO, MPH, FACOI. Understand key factors contributing to the emergence and re-emergence of infectious diseases, and the challenges presented by reduced government funding on diagnostic tools, therapeutics, and vaccines. Develop strategic ways to optimize clinical and public health practices in the face of these constraints.
  • Colon Cancer in Young People, Navin Anthony, DO (Moderator: Jason R. Beckrow, DO, FACOI, FAAHPM, HMDC). Through analyzing recent data on cancer rates, understand the potential causes, signs, and symptoms of colorectal cancer in patients under 50 years of age, and learn how to address colorectal cancer in a younger population.

Share the Annual Convention Experience

When you register, you’ll also get the opportunity to participate in providing students, residents, and fellows with free Annual Convention registration.

This is an important part of the Annual Convention – and if you attended during your time as a student, resident, or fellow, you know this is an incredible way to build a stronger connection with the ACOI community. Now, you can pass along that same support with a donation that sponsors registration for a student, resident, or fellow.

Interested in participating? Here’s how to make your donation when you register for ACOI 2025:

  • Visit the ACOI 2025 registration page.
  • Enter your information, then continue to the checkout page.
  • In the second section under the General Registration heading, you’ll see several options to sponsor student and resident registration. Select your preferred amount.
  • Finish checking out, receive your registration confirmation, and look forward to connecting with your colleagues and inspiring the next generation of osteopathic internists at ACOI 2025!
