The ACOI Annual Convention is a keystone event for the American College of Osteopathic Internists. It is an event where medical students, residents, and physicians can come together to network, collaborate, and expand their lifelong knowledge of medicine. I attended ACOI 2025, and it was by far one of the most influential experiences of my career thus far. I wanted to share a few highlights of my time at the convention, in hopes that it will inspire students and physicians who may be interested in attending.

Networking

As the 2025 NSOIMA Region II Representative, I had the true honor of working closely with ACOI to ensure that the 2025 convention was a memorable experience for everyone. Not only did I meet incredible physicians from across the country, but I had the pleasure of meeting many fellow medical students from various medical schools. Being able to meet other students who are on the same journey as I am was very inspiring and encouraging for me. It is often said by many ACOI members that once you become a member, you will always be a member, and the friendships and collaborations I gained from the 2025 convention was no exception. I still regularly keep in touch with many students I met at convention, and it has been a phenomenal way to meet fellow students throughout the country!

Research

At the 2025 convention, I had the privilege and distinct honor of presenting my research on GLP-1 receptor agonists and their use as a treatment for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), which won its category in clinical research! The ACOI convention was by far the best research experience I have had thus far in my medical career. The ACOI convention provides students the opportunity to present their research, receive feedback, and collaborate with other researchers

Education

The lectures given at the conference are very interesting topics and relevant for all levels of training. The ACOI convention also has a student session and includes lectures such as COMLEX updates, residency panels, and board-relevant case studies. I learned a lot of information at the convention that I still carry on into my training today.

Final Thoughts

The ACOI annual convention is an event that I’d recommend to any medical student. It was an event that exposed me to groundbreaking research, cutting-edge education, and developing lifelong friendships. The convention is free for students, and I’d highly recommend registering today! The convention this year is October 7-10, 2026, in Palm Springs, CA. I can’t wait to see you all there!
