The American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) nationally elected SOIMA officers provide valuable input to ACOI on student issues and work to promote osteopathic internal medicine to their peers and at their osteopathic medical schools. SOIMA also provides a leadership opportunity for those who serve. Elected leaders serve as a resource to osteopathic internal medicine clubs across the country and help shape the future of osteopathic medicine for current and future medical students. The National SOIMA is a developing organization that continues to grow and evolve. The National SOIMA officers meet virtually every other month. All positions listed are for a one-year term.

The President advances SOIMA initiatives and serves as a strategic leader in developing the organization’s goals and activities. They also serve as a student representative on the ACOI Osteopathic Medical Education Continuum Committee (OMECC), contributing to discussions that shape organization-wide student programming.

The Vice President supports leadership initiatives and strategic planning. They participate alongside the President on ACOI's OMECC and help guide decisions related to student-focused initiatives.

The Secretary prepares and distributes meeting minutes, coordinates meeting agendas with the President, Vice President, and ACOI staff. They also help facilitate communication between officers and student representatives on committees.

Regional Representatives serve as liaisons between SOIMA and local chapters within their geographic region (based on the location of their college of osteopathic medicine). They share information about ACOI and SOIMA activities and initiatives with students and advocate on behalf of their regions to national leadership. Regional Representatives also collaborate with chapter leaders to support and organize regional events. See the ACOI region map below for more information.
