MEETING SAFETY

How is ACOI making this meeting safe? What measures will ensure adherence to CDC guidelines?

The ACOI is staying on top of CDC COVID-19 guidelines to ensure that our Convention follows all safety practices for gatherings.

In response to the Delta variant of the coronavirus, the CDC is recommending that even fully vaccinated people should wear a mask in public indoor settings. Therefore, facial mask wearing is required for all indoor activities at the Annual Convention regardless of vaccination status.

In addition:

  • All ACOI staff at Convention will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Meeting spaces will accommodate physical distancing
  • All hotel staff will wear facial masks
  • Hotel is committed to extra sanitizing measures, especially in high-touch areas

Is proof of vaccination required for attendees?

The ACOI strongly encourages all attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

MEETING FORMAT

How will the hybrid meeting work?

The hybrid meeting sessions will be broadcasting concurrently with the education sessions as they are happening live at the meeting in Orlando. While the virtual sessions will reflect the live meeting as much as possible, some events, such as the networking events will not be broadcast through the virtual platform.

What is my login info?

To access the event, you must sign in using your registered email and provided password. If you did not receive the welcome email, click this link and sign in with your email and the temporary password #ACOI2021. If you need additional assistance with your login, please contact acoi@acoi.org.

How do I access the sessions?

  1. Click the Agenda link in the main menu.
  2. Select the appropriate conference day.
  3. Locate the session in the agenda.
  4. Click Join Session 
  5. Click the CONTENTS tab to view the session.
  6. Recordings of the content will remain in the agenda on the date and time they ran.

Will I be able to view the recorded archive of the event sessions?

The recorded versions of the sessions will be posted 1 week after the event concludes. The process to access them will be similar to how you login for the live programs, but you will be able to view at your convenience. The platform will be available to access until December 23, 2021. 

Can I receive CME?

The American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide  continuing medical education to physicians and has designated this live CME activity for a maximum of 60.5 AOA Category  1A Credits. 

The American College of Osteopathic Internists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education  (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

The American College of Osteopathic Internists designates this live activity for a maximum of 60.5 AMA PRA Category 1  Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

How do I claim my CME?

In order to obtain credit for the meeting, physicians must complete the CME form found on ACOI’s website at:  https://www.acoi.org/ACOI2021/CME. The form must be completed and  submitted by December 23, 2021. There is no requirement for daily sign-in. Each physician should claim only those credits actually spent  in the education activities. Once you submit your hours you will be able to download your certificate(s) immediately. 

The following amount of internal medicine CME credits are available at the 2021 Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions: 

Wednesday, October 27................8.50 credits 

Thursday, October 28....................12.25 credits 

Friday, October 29.......................17.25 credits 

Saturday, October 30................ 22.50 credits 

Total.............................................60.50 credits 

Those needing certification of attendance for state licensure purposes at the AIDS, medical ethics, patient safety/risk management, domestic violence or pain requirement sessions can submit these hours and download these certificates from the same form on our website.  

As a member service, the ACOI will report CME credits reported at the above link to the AOA. You are responsible for reporting credits to CE Broker.

What is the convention theme?

Today we are experiencing the developing age of medicine, evident by significant changes in the provider-patient relationship and with the dramatic advances of healthcare delivery. Additionally, legions of men and women are now pursuing healthcare-related fields as seen by an increase in interest in health careers. The 2021 ACOI Annual Convention & Scientific Sessions will be offering approximately 60 hours of AOA Category 1A / AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Who are the keynote speakers?

          Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH – Renowned Epidemiologist, Outspoken National COVID Expert. Michael Osterholm is an epidemiologist, Regents Professor, Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, and served as a member of the COVID-19 Advisory Board as part of President Biden’s Transition Team. Michael is a New York Times best-selling author of Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs.

          Dr. Jen Caudle, DO – Social Media Influencer, TV personality and known as “America’s Family Doctor.” She is a board-certified family medicine physician and Associate Professor in the department of Family Medicine at Rowan University-School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Jen appears as a regular on-air health expert for local and national news networks, including The TODAY Show, The Dr. Oz Show, CNN, FOX News, Rachael Ray Show, and the Steve Harvey Show, amongst others.

Will the price of the virtual meeting be the same as the in-person meeting?

Yes. Those who register for the in-person meeting will also automatically gain access to the virtual meeting.
