The Internal Medicine Residency program at Northeast Regional Medical Center provides residents with an organized, progressive program in an environment where the dedication is to teaching and making the program both high quality and personable Northeast Regional Medical Center is a 109-bed community hospital in a rural setting in Northeast Missouri. It is the largest hospital in a 90-mile radius. There are some required out rotations. However, most rotations, can be done on campus.

Northeast Regional Medical Center has a Tracking Internal Medicine Internship. There is a very strong didactic program with weekly conferences–MKSAP, Critical Care, Journal Club, Harrison's in addition to the daily lectures. The Hospital is a member of the Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institute of Kirksville (OPTIK) with KCOM being the associated school. Being on location with KCOM provides educational enhancement to the program. An Academic Scholar Certifcate Program is offered to residents.

The Medical Center also offers other internship and residency programs which work together in a collaborative manner towards educational goals.

Jack Bragg, D.O., FACOI, is the Internal Medicine Program Director. There are 6 approved residency positions, and for the 2001-2002 year, there are 6 filled positions. The medicine faculty consists of 13 full-time with subspecialties in cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, neurology, and rheumatology. For the last two years, the program has had a 100 percent pass rate on the Internal Medicine Certifying Examination. During this time frame, approximately 33 percent have gone on to Fellowships and 67 percent have entered successful internal medicine careers. All of the 2001-2002 graduating residents are entering fellowship programs.
